Additive Manufacturing

Overview

The group was tasked to select a product which could be Additive Manufactured as an alternative to its current manufacturing method. The product selected was an airless, non-pneumatic tyre to be made out of TPU plastic due to its resistance to impact, abrasion and durability, where its flexibility is crucial in the performance of the tyre. A CAD model was made and the print parameters were set and changed during different iterations to improve the final product, by looking at printer movement and overhang.
